It’s been a long time since I’ve done one of these, either freehand (below) or the block swipe you see above. These are small 8×8 canvases (the quicker to scrape, don’t you know), and I just wanted to try it out again. The base of these paintings, and what helps create the cells, is house paint.
I created the second one just to use up the paints I had mixed. The only 8×8 I had available was a used canvas which had darker paints on it, so I needed to use the black house paint even though I wasn’t sure there would be enough contrast. As it turns out, I like that one best, and (again) am hoping that the base coat will level out as it is seems quite lumpy at the moment.
From day to day I don’t know what I might feel like painting right now. There’s been a lot of frustrations in the last few weeks with my friend Art, so I’m just trying to relax and go with the flow. These two little ones were quite satisfying to paint.

Air ballet is beautiful.
