These paintings were created using the flip cup method. The colors were individually mixed with pouring medium, and then those colors were added to one cup. You can layer the colors carefully or you can dump them in casually — each will give different results. The cup of paint was then poured on the substrate which is then tilted for composition and to remove excess paint. If silicone was added, this is when the cells begin to appear which is a really fun process to watch as the cells evolve over minutes or even hours.
This is the second of two 8×8 canvases, I and II. I was doing a lab, which is to say I was experimenting with either new technique or new additives, and it was a head-to-head comparison. Thus, two 8×8 canvases using the very same colors and technique! Oftentimes when I do a lab the results are scraped or the canvas recycled, but this time I felt like they deserved to be seen. These are mostly metallic paints used for a bit of shine.
If you desire, I can cover the back of the canvas with craft paper, and a sawtooth hanger can also be added at no charge.
